Spiritual Warfare Is Real: Surrender, Purpose & Living an Authentic Faith
What does spiritual warfare actually look like in everyday life—and how do you fight back when worry, fear, and pressure begin stealing your peace?
On this episode of The Steve Marston Show, Steve gets personal about a middle-of-the-night battle with racing thoughts, stress, and anxiety—and the simple biblical truth that helped him regain his peace: “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” Sometimes spiritual warfare doesn't look dramatic. Sometimes it looks like the thoughts that keep pulling your attention away from God.
Steve also tackles one of Christianity's most repeated myths in That's Not in the Bible: “God helps those who help themselves.” While Scripture certainly doesn't teach laziness, our relationship with God isn't based on our ability to work hard enough, behave well enough, or somehow earn His favor. Grace means learning to stop pushing the boulder uphill and rest in what Christ has already done.
Then Steve welcomes Christine Faith, founder of Searcy Living Magazine and the Imagine and Believe Foundation, for a conversation about surrender, calling, foster care, adoption, and recognizing the opportunities God places directly in front of us.
Christine shares how launching a magazine with no publishing experience eventually led her into foster care and then into a ministry serving foster and adoptive families. She also describes a defining moment when she finally told God that her business—and its success or failure—belonged completely to Him.
Her message is a powerful reminder: You don't need a platform to have a ministry. God has given you gifts, opportunities, and people you can impact right where you are.
Later, Taryn Phillips, pastor of The Refuge Church in San Antonio, joins Steve for a wide-ranging conversation about antisemitism, the church's relationship with the Jewish people, spiritual warfare, and what he calls “hospital church”—creating a place where Christians can honestly confess their struggles instead of pretending they have everything together.
