No More Tears In Heaven By Mark R. Spencer (in Memory Of My Friend Suicide Tom Watkins)

This song was years in the making. Thomas Roy "Suicide Tom" Watkins died from Congestive Heart Failure in the early morning hours of April 1, 2003, just 6 days shy of his 45th birthday. He lived in Watsonville, California, and I lived in Capitola. I ran a karaoke show around Santa Cruz County, and Tom set up the shows for me. He got his nickname by letting the karaoke DJs pick his songs. He did songs like “Barbie Girl” and “Man I Feel Like A Woman”, and people loved it. Imagine hearing the man in the image on the screen singing “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”. He brought life to every show. And then, he got sick. I wasn’t familiar with the symptoms of Congestive Heart Failure back then, but I knew he wasn’t simply suffering from a flu. So On March 21, 2003, a buddy and I took Tom to the ER at Dominican Hospital. The doctor had an x-ray and EKG done, and told Tom his heart was enlarged. Tom told him that enlarged hearts ran in his family. I now know that Congestive Heart Failure can be diagnosed with x-rays and EKGs, because my mother had it, and as her care giver, I was with her when they told her about that, and about her A Fib, and Coronary Artery Disease. But Tom’s doctor said nothing about Congestive Heart Failure. He stuck to the enlarged heart narrative - which was deceptive, since the autopsy showed that his heart was two and a half times the size of a normal heart. But then, Tom didn’t have insurance; so he was turned away in his hour of need. Ten days later, he was dead, and he didn’t have to be. He could have been saved, if only for a short time. And this was a Catholic hospital letting that man go to his death. Of course, the doctor may not have shared that ideology. Either way, even though they swept it under the carpet, and never answered for this crime, they still have to face the ultimate judge. They can’t hide from Him.

Yet it rises into grateful relief and bold praise, celebrating the strength and protection found in a God who hears and rescues. The "Book of Psalms: Back to Songs" project is a creative endeavor to restore the original spirit of the #psalms - as songs of worship, lament, praise, and reflection-by transforming them back into musical form, as many were written. Drawing from modern translations of the classic biblical texts, this project reimagines the Psalms with fresh musical arrangements that blend timeless messages with modern sounds. Each Psalm is thoughtfully adapted into lyrical and melodic compositions, many using modern tools, to explore harmonies, instrumentation, and genre-blending arrangements. From soulful acoustic ballads and rock/pop hymns to country pieces and R&B-inspired tunes, the project seeks to make the Psalms accessible and resonate with today’s listeners, while staying true to their emotional and spiritual depth.

On Heaven's Wings - By Mark R. Spencer

Through the power of God, anything is possible. You only need faith to rise above this earthly chaos, and touch grace.

Junk - By Mark R. Spencer

I wrote this song for the young women (and men) that I've known throughout my life, who felt like they didn't matter, that they had no purpose. Not all of them survived their depression. Some have left this world, but some are still with us, having had their own "come to Jesus" moments, as I did. Having been on the edge myself, wondering if the cliff was high enough to end my suffering, or low enough to cause more, I know how it feels to see yourself as invisible and purposeless. God took that away from me, and gave me a reason to believe in Him, and in myself.

Radiant King

Lyric video for the original worship song “Radiant King (All Praise Be Sung)”, written by Richard Quayle. This song is a precious reminder of the captivating love of Jesus for his bride, and the breath-taking length he went to in order to be together. A declaration of Christ’s redeeming love — the Lamb upon the throne who broke our chains, removed our shame, and made us His own. It reflects the journey from sin and darkness into grace, identity, and joyful surrender. My prayer is that many hearts will be captivated by our amazing saviour. In the words of the early Moravian Missionaries, “May the Lamb that was slain receive the reward of His suffering”. Book of Psalms Back to Songs: Psalm 12 - Refined Like Silver

You shelter and protect us, Your mercy guards our name. You keep us through the darkness — Oh, please help me, Lord. [Verse 1] Please help me, Lord, I’m calling, For the faithful hearts have gone. The loyal ones are fading, Their truth no longer strong. Their tongues are full of flattery, Their pride is loud and vain. They boast, “Our words have power — None can take our fame.” [Bridge] But You, O Lord, have spoken: “I will rise and make it right! The poor are crushed and broken, Their cries pierce through the night. I’ll lift the lost in mercy, I’ll set the captives free.” [Chorus] Our Lord, You are faithful, Your word is pure as silver flame. You shelter and protect us, Your mercy guards our name. You keep us through the darkness — Oh, please help me, Lord. [Verse 2] Your promises are flawless, Refined in holy fire. You guard us from the wicked, You lift our spirits higher. The proud may walk in arrogance, Their praise a hollow sound, But You, O Lord, are steadfast — Your grace forever bound. [Chorus] Our Lord, You are faithful, Your word is pure as silver flame. You shelter and protect us, Your mercy guards our name. You keep us through the darkness — Oh, please help me, Lord. Book of Psalms Back to Songs: Psalm 11 - The Lord Is My Fortress

Psalm 11 conveys a spirit of unshakable courage and defiance, as the writer rejects the urge to flee in fear and instead chooses to trust in God’s sovereign control. It reflects a calm, resolute peace rooted in the belief that while the world’s foundations may shake, God remains on His throne to test the heart and execute perfect justice. The "Book of Psalms: Back to Songs" project is a creative endeavor to restore the original spirit of the #psalms - as songs of worship, lament, praise, and reflection-by transforming them back into musical form, as many were written. You say, “The wicked hide in shadow, Their arrows drawn beneath the sky.” They aim their hearts toward the righteous, As the world begins to shake. When all that’s good is breaking down, What strength can the faithful take? [Chorus: Anthemic and emotive] The Lord is seated In His holy temple, High upon His throne above. He sees the hearts of every soul, He reigns in truth and love. Through every storm, through every test — The Lord is my fortress! [Verse 2] The Lord examines every heart, He knows the ones who stand for peace. But those who live with cruel intent Will never find release. He rains down fire on the wicked, Their breath becomes the wind that burns. But grace remains for those who seek, And justice soon returns. [Instrumental: Emotional guitar and strings swell] [Bridge: Soft then rising in power] The Lord is right, His ways are true, He loves the light in all we do. And every heart that walks in grace Will see His shining face. [Powerful Outro: Full band and orchestral lift] The Lord is seated In His holy temple, High upon His throne above. He knows our pain, He knows our hearts, He reigns in endless love. Through every storm, through every test — The Lord is my fortress! [Fade Out: Whispered echo with piano and strings] The Lord… my fortress… ---- notes: Words updated for song lyrics style: Pop, Rock, Emotional, soundtrack, female vocals, soul, blues #PsalmsProject #ModernWorship #AncientWordsNewSound #ChristianMusic #WorshipMusic #FaithAndArt #ScriptureInSong #PraiseHim #Christian #Jewish #Bible #rock #praise #worship #pop #music #modern #BookofPsalms #christianmusician #scripture #PsalmsBackToSongs
