God's Final Solution to Evil - Part 01
Ministries > Messianic Perspectives with Dr. Gary Hedrick
Evil is a reality in our world. Violence and brutality can be seen everywhere. The question is often asked, Why does a good God allow evil, and what is He doing about it? In the ninth chapter of Daniel, God outlines His solution to put an end to evil. The day will come when righteousness will triumph.
Liz Iello: God is not going to allow evil to corrupt his creation forever. What is God's final solution to evil? We'll find out today, right here on Messianic Perspectives.
Liz Iello: Shalom and welcome to Messianic Perspectives, a daily program where we look into the scriptures from a distinctive first-century Jewish point of view. This is Liz Iello. Today, Pastor Al Runji answers the question, what is God's final solution to evil? With a study from Daniel 9. I'll be back at the close of the program to give you some important information. And now with today's study, here is Pastor Al Runji.
Pastor Al Runji: Thank you for letting me come back into your homes and to share with you that wonderful message of our Lord Jesus Christ. I'm beginning a new series on God's final solution to evil. God is not going to allow evil to continue corrupting his creation forever. Evil will be eternally defeated. Now, we're going to look at Daniel 9 in our studies. The Word of God says that God sent an angel to reveal his plan of ending evil to Daniel the Prophet. Listen to this. An angel informed me and talked with me and said, "Oh, Daniel, I have now come forth to give you skill to understand. At the beginning of your supplications the command went out, and I've come to tell you, for you are greatly beloved." "Therefore, consider the matter and understand the vision." Isn't it wonderful that every child of God can be encouraged by these words, "You are greatly beloved?" Did you know that in heaven you are the beloved of God and as such, God wants you to understand his plan for the future? The reason we are beloved of God is because of our relationship with his son, Jesus. In Matthew 13, verse 10 to 12, we are told that because we are beloved of God, the truth of the mysteries of the Kingdom of God belong to us. And the disciples came and said to Jesus, "Why do you speak to them in parables?" He answered and said to his disciples, "Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven, but to them it has not been given." Those of us who belong to Jesus are given the privilege to understand the mysteries of God's Kingdom, his prophetic plan. God doesn't want you or me to be ignorant of his future plan and how it involves Israel. It is important that we understand that God has a prophetic clock ticking away, and it is directed toward his ancient people Israel. I want to read to you the entire scripture for our series. It is found in Daniel 9, verse 24 to 27. "70 weeks are determined for your people and for your holy city Jerusalem, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sins, to make reconciliation for iniquity, to bring an everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy." "Know therefore, and understand that the going forth of the command to restore and build Jerusalem until the Messiah the Prince, there shall be seven weeks and 62 weeks. The street shall be built again and the wall, even in troublesome times." "And after the 62 weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for himself. And the people of the Prince who is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood until the end of the war, desolations are determined." "Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week. But in the middle of the week he shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering, and on the wing of abomination shall be one who makes desolate, even until the consummation, which is determined is poured out on the desolate." Now, let us talk about the prophetic times and seasons revealed in Daniel 9. There are five periods of time recorded here. The first period is the end of the 70 weeks of years in which God ends the transgression and establishes his eternal kingdom of righteousness. So, he begins at the end, the conclusion. The second period is the prophetic clock begins when the edict to rebuild Jerusalem was given. The first seven weeks or 49 years, the city will be rebuilt in troublesome times under Nehemiah. The third period of time is that after the seven weeks of 49 years, there is added 62 more weeks of 434 years. At that time, the Messiah will come for his first coming and will be killed, but not for himself, but for us. The fourth period of time, the prophetic clock is stopped for a determined amount of years of desolation for the land of Israel, known only to God. During that time, the church will be established and built until the times of the Gentiles are over. The fifth period of time, the prophetic clock starts again for the last week of seven years, in which the Antichrist makes his appearance on the world scene. He makes a covenant with Israel to rebuild their temple and start sacrifices again. But in the middle of the week, three and a half years later, he breaks his covenant with Israel, and he sits in the temple demanding worship for himself. Then at the end of that three and a half years, the Lord Jesus will return and defeat the Antichrist and establish his kingdom on Earth. We want to start with the period of the completion of the 70 weeks in order to understand the ultimate plan of God to end transgression in his creation. In the prophecy of Daniel, Daniel 9:24, we are told, "70 weeks are determined for your people and for your holy city." The 70-week prophecy pertains to Israel and the city of Jerusalem, but its benefits will be shared by all creation. Here are six things that God is going to accomplish in the end. He will finish the transgression. He will make an end of sins. He will make reconciliation for iniquity. He will bring an everlasting righteousness. He will seal up vision and prophecy. That is, he'll complete it. And he will anoint the most holy. So, God will make an end to the transgression over the years. I have watched Star Trek on and off on TV and seen how the writers view the universe. Wherever their starship, USS Enterprise goes, it encounters hostile species. Everywhere in the universe, there is unexplored space where violence and evil exists. The writers have no concept of the sovereign God and of the angels of God. They write about Q, a fictitious, omniscient, all-powerful being who uses his power to play practical jokes on the crew, a totally selfish and juvenile speci. Q is portrayed as a very dangerous personality who cares nothing about lesser beings. The writer's imagination is totally off the mark. The only omniscient and true and living God is loving, holy, and just, and will not tolerate evil to continue in his creation. He has a plan to end evil and to save sinners. The holy and true God is not going to allow sin to flourish forever. He's going to bring an end to it. He will do it in two ways, through redemption for those who believe in Jesus and who repent and a very severe judgment on those who will not repent and refuse to believe in the Messiah Jesus. There are those who believe God is too loving and too good to judge sinners and to send them into the lake of fire and exile forever. But let's think about it for a moment. What if God doesn't exile and isolate his sinful enemies in the lake of fire? What if he welcomed them into heaven unrepentant, unchanged? What if he allowed his enemies into his kingdom? What would happen? It would mean that evil would triumph and would plague his creation forever. Heaven would be turned into a hell. Conflict would never cease. God will either reconcile his enemies or he will judge them. That's what God's Word says. God must and will judge his enemies in order to end the transgression and put an end to sin forever. There will be a final judgment in Revelation 20, verse 11 to 15, we're told. "Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Heaven and Earth fled from his presence and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and the books were open. Another book was open, which is the book of life." "The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them. And each person was judged according to what he had done." "Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire, which is the second death. If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire." Make no mistake about it because it's too important. You don't want to deceive yourself. God is going to put an end to transgressions, to evil, to sin. And before you, and before each of us, there was a crossroad. We could have taken one road that led to belief and faith and repentance and found forgiveness of sins, and found God as our Father. The other road leads to destruction, to judgment, to eternal separation from God, the eternal torment of the soul. I know that this kind of preaching is unpopular today. We are a very tolerant people, and we don't understand the necessity of exiling the rebels and transgressors from God's new creation, but it will be done. Now, the Word of God says carefully and clearly that we should flee the wrath of God that is to come. You know, there's really no reason why you should go on unforgiven, because Jesus, the Savior, died for your sins. We want to continue in the study of Daniel 9 and see what God is planning ahead. What a wonderful day it's going to be when no one will sin anymore, and God shall be loved and honored, and Jesus will be exalted as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and you can be a part of it. You can be a part of the victory in Jesus by simply receiving him as your Lord and Savior. May you do that now and God bless you real good.
