About Cross Roads Church (formerly John Calvin Presbyterian Church)
At Cross Roads Church we believe that lives are changed forever when they experience the unconditional love of God. We are a mid-sized, energized, and Christ-centered congregation located in Windcrest (NE San Antonio) who are excited to welcome people of all races, ages, and backgrounds to come experience the power of hope in Jesus Christ. We engage in many fellowship and learning opportunities, as well as small group ministries. We also live out our name as a "cross roads " for the community by hosting many community partners on our campus, from basketball groups in our gym, to refugee and immigrant congregations worshiping in our buildings. It's all part of being God's Kingdom and sharing what God has given to us! Our desire is to be a destination for all people to come and experience and share the love of God more deeply through life giving worship, Christ-centered teaching and preaching, and nurturing care through all the seasons of life. About Pastor Bryan
Pastor Brian joined Cross Roads Church in September, 2017. He came to Cross Roads Church with over 13 years of ministry experience.. He earned his BA from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, graduating with honors and highest distinction. He earned his Master of Divinity from the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary where he earned awards in biblical studies and for music contributions to the life of the seminary. He has served in a wide variety of positions, ranging from a year of chaplaincy work at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, to serving on staff of a larger, multiracial urban congregation in Pittsburgh, and previously serving as a solo pastor of a family-sized congregation in Verona, Pennsylvania. As pastor of the Verona Presbyterian Church, Brian led the congregation in a process of strategic revitalization focusing on discipleship and greater neighborhood outreach, and helped to lead the congregation through the challenges presented by maintaining a cross-cultural children’s ministry. Pastor Brian is passionate about sharing the love of Jesus Christ, creating space for the broken and broken hearted , and leading the church in the adventure of following the Holy Spirit. He believes that the Good News is all about extraordinary grace for ordinary people, and coming to know the God who loves us more than we could ever imagine. Brian has a background in working with children and in cross-cultural ministry, and believes that addressing the sin of racial separation is one of the most important challenges of the church today. He particularly enjoys moments of pastoral care and counseling, working with couples preparing to get married, guiding a productive board meeting where the Spirit can be seen at work, preaching, teaching, and seeing lives changed in response to God’s love. He also believes that life together as the church should be fun! Brian is married to the love of his life, Kimberly, and together they have two beautiful children, Elsie and Arlo.
