On May 7, 1999, Apostle Jose and Ruby held their first bible study in their living room. On June 6, 1999, they opened their doors for their first church service as Sword of the Spirit Church where two people attended. The church purpose was to “Equip the Body of Christ for Battle”. Over the next few months the church grew to 13 people and after nine months the living room became too small. While seeking the Lord in prayer for a meeting place Apostle Jose was directed to a 5,200sq.ft. unused warehouse space on the side of a small shopping center. Without furniture, equipment, ceiling tile or electricity, they moved in with only a promise that God would provide and a few lawn chairs. The Lord kept His promise and the church continued to grow. The lawn chairs were no longer sufficient and the church experienced a provision miracle to purchase their first 100 chairs. After two years, when the lease expired, the now 50 member church moved to a 6,500sq.ft. storefront in May, 2002. The Lord continued to bless them and they blossomed to 120 people. Then God led them to merge with another church and it grew to over 450. After a transition the Lord once again reminded Apostle Jose of His promise and led him to establish Embassy Church with 40 people on September 7, 2003, with the purpose to “Establish the Kingdom of God on Earth.” Their first service was held at Crossroads Mall where no rent was required. In October of the same year, the church of 100 moved to 8721 Grissom Rd., an 8,700sq.ft. storefront location. The church continues to grow. At the end of 2006 the Lord instructed Apostle Jose to change the name of the church to Embassy Church. The Lord said, “Take the limits off be a church for all people.” So in 2007 the name change went into effect. In the natural an embassy is an establishment that represents another country. That is why the Lord named us Embassy Church because we are here to represent the Kingdom of God. In the natural, an embassy serves as a place where the oppressed can go for help. Embassy Church was birthed in the heart of God to be a gathering place for all.
