God Is Not Rushed by Your Growth | Your Nightly Prayer

Maybe you're frustrated that an old habit still hasn't disappeared, a weakness still surfaces, or the spiritual growth you've prayed for feels painfully slow. In a culture that celebrates instant results, rapid transformation, and measurable progress, it can be difficult to accept that some of God's deepest work unfolds gradually.

In this Your Nightly Prayer devotional, Amber Ginter reflects on Psalm 92:13-14 and the picture of God's people as those who are planted, flourishing, fresh, green, and still bearing fruit even in old age. Like a plant growing beneath the soil, much of our development happens in ways we cannot immediately see. Roots deepen before flowers bloom, and spiritual maturity is often built through small, faithful choices repeated over time.

God is not asking you to force growth or become a finished product overnight. He calls you to remain planted in Him—to stay rooted in Scripture, prayer, obedience, community, and the presence of Christ. Some seasons may feel slow, hidden, or unproductive, but hidden growth is not wasted growth. What God is strengthening beneath the surface may prepare you to flourish later in ways you cannot yet imagine.

Psalm 92 also offers hope for every stage of life: spiritual fruitfulness has no expiration date. Whether you are young, aging, beginning again, or simply discouraged by the pace of change, God is still able to cultivate good fruit in you. Tonight, release the pressure to rush your progress. Ask Him to help you remain rooted, faithful, and patient with the work He is doing.
