MISSION
Communities In Schools has a mission to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Based directly inside schools throughout Bexar County, Communities In Schools connects children and their families to basic and critical educational and community-based resources, tailored to each student’s specific needs.

Their evidence-based approach, adapted to meet each community's unique needs, is the basis for our success. Many children face challenges both inside and outside the classroom. Through a school-based site coordinator, Communities In School strategically aligns and delivers needed resources so that students can focus on learning.

HOW THEY HELP
Struggling students and their families have a hard time accessing and navigating the maze of public and private services. There may be ample resources in a community, but rarely is there someone on the ground who is able to connect these resources with the schools and students that need them most. Through a school-based coordinator, we bring these local resources into the school where they are accessible, coordinated and accountable.
